There's so much to say about metowe I don't know where to begin and may just leave this article a draft for now.
Craig and Marc Kielburger of http://freethechildren.org launched the metowe campaign based on their experiences overseas. They unite the Freethechildren school group network under the overarching philosophy of (from) me to we - for using our personal priviledge and capacities for helping others. Which not only makes the world better, but makes us feel reaally good. Right on!
Whereas their priority focus has long been forming adopt-a-village partnerships from Canada to fourty countries, they now include also starting taking care of their local communities in Canada.
MetoWe is remarkable for its full scale professionalism in running the campaign, bringing thousands of youth from hundreds of schools together for MeToWe Day, involving many inspirational speakers and celebrities who really care http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yN4hnpi0Sg and stick to the movement. And it's cool they don't take themselves too serious. Watch Craig's public speaking tips ;) http://we.freethechildren.com/get-involved
Their approach may look puzzlingly mainstream to change-makers used to being counter-culture. But - hey, look at this - they are achieving, mobilising on massive scale, with fun, and massive impact and inspiration! This is a new generation! The people involved are full on sincere and living positive change action spirit!
It is so good to see them take over the mainstream, blinking out all those fake and hyped celebrity wanna-be events. This is the way to do it!
Craig and Marc - thanks and Go Go Go! We're watching! Learning! Sharing the great example!
There's probably more that I have missed from my memory. There is lots to discover! Just jump around their site to find out. www.metowe.com and www.freethechildren.org.
