SUMAILI NYANGE

COMMUNITY ORGANIZER IN KAKUMA REFUGEE CAMP, KENYA

Sumaili is eye witness to the catastrophes done to today’s young generation. A refugee at age 9, he has grown up in an overcrowded camp, uninspiring rations and omni-present sexual violence against girls … not exactly as Kenyan law and UN charters foresee it.

Using his english language skills and phone as a link to learning and the global public, Sumaili and friends have launched youth-led projects to create permaculture gardens, safe spaces for healing and youth community, opportunities for learning, life skill development, collaboration and opening doors to a proper life.

You have extremely rare opportunity to speak to a youth in a refugee camp, to discover that these beautiful youth are truly like, to realize how adult institutions are failing … and to take quick steps to make immediate changes … that can ripple through this camp and others.

You will feel your power. Seize it.
