All of a sudden, millions of youth and adults get up, get together, take risks, are positively inspired and enthusiastic about standing up for their love and convictions. And they love the experience, the passion, the unity, the purpose – felt across generations, disciplines, countries and cultures. So …
WHAT
IS
HAPPENING?
What made this happen?
What is really going on there? Who is doing what?
Where is this going? What is my role in this?
We can tell you. Come have a look.
2018 has been a special year!
It was the year that the world took notice of young changemakers.
That teens have wits, heart and magical powers!
In 2017, the kids around Xiuhtezcatl sueing the U.S. Government for climate change caused a media frenzy in American and European media. It’s a long battle, as the dishonorable Obama and Trump administrations use legal tricks to delay the trial.
On Valentine’s Day 2018, a psycho shot holes into 17 students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School, Florida. 2 days later … THIS happened. Instead of being silenced, Emma, Cameron, David and friends took the mic and sent an earthquake across America and planetary media.
In August 2018, a girl sat down in front of she swedish parliament with a sign saying “schoolstrike for the climate” and a leaflet stating “Since you don’t give a shit on my future, I won’t give a shit about it, either,” and her photo and statement circulated through planetary media… Greta
These 3 incidents on mainstream media, even the most shitty tabloids, mark a breakthrough.
Youth Leadership, tremendous hero*ines with youth-powered model solutions changing lives, laws and industries at record scale have been around for decades. One crew’s action teams at 16,000 schools have made “creating a good world for all” part of learning culture in collaboration with teachers. Their events score 6 hours “live” on tv. It’s sensational. It’s all that’s needed. But the global public knows almost nothing of it to this day. Media are blind to it.
So, why these 3 breakthrough stories?
Because it’s teenagers
- sueing the government
- screaming at government
- addressing the government with a piece of cardboard
for failing to protect their lives.
Mainstream media only notice noisy “political demands”. They are blind to all the fantastic rest.
Side note : conclusion #1
Start youth-led movements stating the government fails to end 10-20% child sex abuse etc. etc etc. combined with concrete, proven solutions and will to implement them.
Side note : conclusion #2
Start creating omni-presence of solution stories on badass teenage changemakers with tangible solutions. That’s our immediate focus and mission, so get involved.
But the big important thing
that we want to bring to your attention, is that, no matter whether these initiatives’ specific goals – ending fossil fuel investment, change of gun laws, implementation of the Paris Agreement – are achieved,
a greater shift has been achieved
Youth and adults globally awaken to Youth Leadership
to the blissful, exhilarating energies, joy, community and vision of this new “sport” or “music”
and they know they want this to go to much greater levels. Wham!
Youth self-organize and team up with Adult Allies
like #ScientistsForFuture and civil society to evoke necessary changes.
#ParentsForFuture take a stand to support youth on-demand
protecting them from vile attacks, and humbly acknowledging young people’s sovereignity in the driver’s seat. Perfect. Way to go.
#TeachersForFuture position themselves
take a stand against ministries demanding authoritarian responses, and begin to self-organize to integrate climate and positive change into subjects, student clubs and more.
Journalists
begin to discover meaning, respect, purpose and service in their profession. All of them discover their role in society for positive change.
People like YOU
are here on this website and begin to realize their own yet untapped powers in amplifying youth leadership 1,000-fold, learn about their roles and get involved!
also … people involved in for instance #FridaysForFuture begin to realize
- the sympathetic backing by 75% of the population
but also that
- the quest is gigantic
- only a small percentage of youth and adults actually take part
and that the future of all species alive today and generations to come depends really on them – the conscious few.
These few include YOU. But – we can do it, when we truly learn to unfold our yet largely untapped powers.
The good news is that:
just like people that have read an article on a Gothic Music festival or wilderness survival training, with some vivid, memorable images, but really don’t know anything about it …
people today have only seen 0.1% of the world’s changemaking movements, proven, people-powered solutions and how to make them come alive in our homes, schools and public spaces …
There is so much to discover for the newbies!!!
The most sensational is this:
In North America, youth leadership – (training) young people as agents of change in their communities – has been part of civic education for 50 years.
Young hero*ines changing lives, laws and industries at record pace and scale are not an “anomaly” but a mass phenomenon. And there is a body of knowledge, tools and support available on … “how this works”.
Teenage changemakers are omni-present in local and national news media, honored with scores of renowned awards, in high demand as speakers at schools, backed by celebrities and supported by citizens’ generous donations.
Some have action teams at 16,000 schools, have made “creating a good world for all” daily life at school, in partnership with teachers – who love it! They don’t just debate. They raise $40+ million annually and run countless sustainabilty projects all over Earth.
This – among many other things – is something that youth, parents, teachers, city councils and donors all over the planet yet struggle to achieve or even IMAGINE!
The tools, tricks and tactics exist. They are simple, proven and common sense. You need to wield them – because YOU are THE PEOPLE.
And that’s where your journey with YOUTH-LEADER begins.
The real power belongs with the people.
Until you start focussing on what needs to be done…
How are you wielding that power? Do you share the feeling that you want to evoke more, if you knew what, how and had some help?
The solutions exist. even the suport networks are in place. What’s needed now is the demand.
The problem is – the people don’t know. Even governments don’t.
Ashoka CEO, Taellberg Forum 2008 re:worktheworld
Our house is on fire, so we need to act like it is. We need everyone to act like this is an emergency. Sure we need you to be inspired, but we also need you to act. This transition requires enormous efforts, like at wartime mobilization. – Greta
